Pricing

AffordableMTD offers a simple, transparent pricing model:

There are no monthly fees, no per-submission charges, and no premium tiers. Every user gets access to every feature.

How to subscribe

During the free period (2026-27 tax year), no payment is needed. When the paid plan becomes active, you'll be prompted to subscribe from within AffordableMTD. Payment is handled securely through Stripe — AffordableMTD never stores your card details.

Managing your subscription

You can manage your subscription from Settings in your AffordableMTD dashboard:

Clicking "Manage Subscription" takes you to a secure billing portal (powered by Stripe) where you can make these changes.

What happens if I cancel?

If you cancel your subscription:

MTD is mandatory. If you cancel and don't switch to another MTD-compatible tool, you won't be able to submit the required quarterly updates to HMRC. Make sure you have an alternative in place before your next quarterly deadline.

Exporting your data

You can export all your submission data at any time from Settings. This downloads a file containing your complete history — every quarterly update, annual adjustment, and declaration you've submitted.

This is useful for your own records, sharing with your accountant, or migrating to a different tool if needed.

Deleting your account

If you want to permanently delete your account and all associated data, you can do so from Settings → Delete Account. This action is irreversible — all your data will be permanently removed from our systems. Your HMRC connection will also be revoked.

Note that deleting your AffordableMTD account does not affect your HMRC records. Any submissions already sent to HMRC remain on their systems.

Common questions

Is there a monthly payment option?

No — at £19.99/year, a monthly option wouldn't make practical sense. The annual payment keeps things simple and keeps costs low.

Do I get a receipt for my subscription?

Yes. Stripe automatically sends email receipts for payments. You can also download invoices from the billing portal.

Can I claim AffordableMTD as a business expense?

Yes. Software used for tax compliance is an allowable business expense. You can include the cost in your "admin costs" or "professional fees" expense category.
